Alastair Alexander's interesting and informative talk 40 years of volunteering for the VMCC gave us an insight into the evolution of the club in Scotland, some of the history of our section as well as anecdotes from his early days of motorcycling and a glimpse of the resposiblities, politics and trials of his time as presdent of the VMCC. An excellent talk well attended on a chilly evening.

Glorious March weather brought a record number of thirteen bikes for the final Winter wandering of the season – better than the cold and wet February run when no-one else showed up! Club night saw another victory for the MMRC team in the annual quiz night. May promises to be jolly busy. We have the ever-popular Roger and Arthur King Memorial Run for girder-forked bikes on the 10th (pre-entry please) starting from the Shefford Memorial Hall. Then there’s the ride-a-bike night, once again in its new May slot a few days later on the 14th. Keep the bike near the front of the garage ready for the Midweek Run on the 21st. Food is then on the menu at the annual visit to the Velo Club at the Rose & Crown, Ridgmont on the 27th and the breakfast meet on the 31st at the Dairy Café in Franklins Farm, Thorncote Green.

There was a good attendance at our 9-pin skittles evening at the beginning of the month. It’s a social event that combines competition and fun and includes both members and partners. Onsite catering at Burghfield now means that we were also able to order food to keep our energy up, though this was not necessarily commensurate with an improvement in bowling ability. A good time was had by all. The mid-week lunch was held at the Barley Mow in Winchfield. Only one member arrived on two wheels, but the weather was still a bit iffy, so the rest of us chose other forms of transport. Fingers are crossed for April’s mid-week run. Looking ahead, there’s the Spring Run on Sunday 17th May and the annual Chairman’s BBQ on Saturday, 6th June in Hurst. Details on the website.

April started with Gary’s Good Friday Run, with a dozen riders following Gary for a lovely lunch at the Boot Inn, Tisbury. On a warmer Easter Monday 16 riders met up for lunch at the London Tavern.

The 80th year Baton was picked up from the Wessex Section by Hutty and Pete and handed over to the Stonehenge Section by Pete and Dave.

For the Café Relay run Gary took us from The Lamb to Sammy Millers Pitstop Cafe to check out the Royal Enfield day and meet up with a few friends. Then on a very pleasant saunter in warm sunshine through Rockbourne, Woodgreen and Lover to The Borough Cafe at Downton for more coffee, burgers and great conversation. Then a ride back for a beer at The Burley Inn.

June events are;  10th  Bring a Bike night, 14th is the New Forest Vape run, 21st is the Midsummer Oldies run.

During June we have our regular evening run, Midweek run, Pub Night and Breakfast ride in plus the Chiltern Hills run on Saturday 20th, this will be followed by the annual concours event for those that take part in the run, so get that shiny bike out. Dear small machine enthusiasts,

It was a good turnout for the Winter Run with 16 riders taking part. The weather was good if a bit chilly. There seems to be renewed enthusiasm for small machine runs, lets hope it continues !

We have just the following one run in May. The May Bug Buzz on May 10th, the venue is:- The Trout Inn PH,St Johns Bridge, Faringdon Road, Letchlade. GL7 3HA 10.30am start.

I regret I have to report that Peter Lawson died recently. Peter was in in hospital following a stroke but sadly passed away on the morning of Tuesday 24th March.

Peter was long time member of the VMCC Cyclemotor Section and a founder member of the NHNC section. He was regularly seen out on many of our runs through the year and will be sadly missed by us all.

We hope you can manage to join us on some of these runs and others later in the year. All small and feeble powered machines are welcome!

Best wishes to you all,

Mark, (Cyclemotor Section Secretary)

Our first Sunday ride was on 22 March, when 20 riders enjoyed a day out exploring the South Hams. Our coffee stop overlooked the famous Burgh Island at Bigbury on Sea, making our way along the coast via the tidal road, to South Pool, East Portlemouth to East Prawle where we stopped for lunch on the village green opposite the Pigs Nose Pub, a cracking day out to start the riding season.
Dates for your diary this month; we have our early evening ride on the 7 May, The Reservior Run on the 17 May, our Wednesday run on the 27 May, and our usual Breakfast on 31st May at The South Devon Railway, Buckfastleigh.

Our first run of the year got off to a strong start with Ian S leading us on a rather chilly and April-showery run across Exmoor.  The Italian classics were out in force but not one of them took any electrical offence to tackling one of Exmoor’s lively little fords.  A few of our hardier members then ended the ride by taking some fortifying refreshments at a well-known hostelry on Yarde Down.  Join us for Pete’s Magical Mystery Tour on June 21st, meeting at Affinity Devon (formerly Atlantic Village), Bideford for an 11.00am depart.  Our June evening pub meet is on Thursday June 11th at the The Exeter Inn, Chittlehamholt from 6.30pm.

With the lighter evenings returning and (we hope) a touch more cooperation from the weather, the Dorset calendar is quickly filling up.

We begin with the Hedgerow Run on 2 May from Cranborne Garden Centre, followed by a more leisurely affair on 14 May, a lunch organised by Bernard Jones (location to be confirmed, but no doubt worth the wait).

On 17 May, the Red Post Run sets off from Farmyard Kitchen, Sherborne before a particularly sociable weekend at Spire Hill Farm with the Giants Evening Run on 23 May and a daytime run on 24 May.

We round off the month with the Jeff Clew Memorial Run on 31 May from Leigh Village Hall. Please refer to the card for full details of all events.

A busy spell ahead, then, and just the sort to keep both machines and riders in good order.

Ride with care, keep them turning over, and as ever, enjoy the road while it’s on our side.

A card will be printed giving as much detail as possible about regular gatherings and proposed runs. Dave R volunteered to be run leader with others volunteering to lead if needed.

We've been into Devon for weekend runs and some members went to foreign parts (Wales) with Somerset section, even if some had to come back in the van. All got home safely even if repairs were needed to riders as well as 'bikes.

We are back at the tramstop for  breakfast meets with 17 turning out for  April . Some of the 'bikes did have the "I'm not going to start if somebody is watching" problem, when it was time to go though.

We had glorious warm Spring weather for our late April run, an excellent turnout and bikes from the early 50's to the 90's to admire. Coffee break was at Elstree Airfield, very pleasant in the sun but the run was curtailed towards Vanstone Park owing to roadworks, and later the need for some to fill petrol tanks. The Baton rally is as follows: 2nd of June, meet Vanstone Park 1030 and ride to meet the Essex Section 1230 for lunch at the Three Horseshoes, Hazel End Road CM23 1HB. This is a nice country pub on the Essex/Herts border, back to Vanstone Park afterwards. The handover to the Beds Section will be on the 18th June, again from Vanstone Park, 1030 for 11 riding to The Silver Ball cafe, Reed, SG8 8BD for lunch at 1230, return to V Pk afterwards. Dates for June: Breakfast meet 11th, venue TBA; Club night/concours 15th; Run 23rd, venue also TBA. Arriving at Cullingworth, we were welcomed by John Emanuel and his daughters Christine and Susan and treated to a very nice lunch of pie and peas. Afterwards Neil and Andy presented John with a trophy for the highest combined ages of machine and rider. In this case 193 years, 112 for his Humber combination and 81 for John. Well done John and thank you for your hospitality. At the same time Chairman Dave and myself were awarded citations for long service to the club. Dave Bradley’s ride to Sea Breeze Cafe at Fambridge was popular and a new place for us even though it’s just down the road as the crow flies. John Stone’s ride, rescheduled due to bad weather was short and sharp for coffee and cake at Greenstead Green. About 45 miles through lovely rural Essex. Mr Bradley in front again on the first of The (alternate ) Bluebell rides, taking us to Shotley Marina on a most agreeable route but not before coffee at Church View Cafe, Mistley. Returning home via The Glass House cafe at Peldon. A whole day out.
Bluebell ride ‘number two’ led by Simon Enticknap ( Hanningfield reservoir/ Parlour Creeksea) was twenty some miles to coffee, cake, breakfast, sausage/bacon sandwich. Lunch was only another 25 miles up the road but what the hell. All four rides extremely well planned with super company.

We are planning to take the Baton around HOTE as there are plenty of photo opportunities en-route. Our July Club night East is our Annual Bike Show which will again be held at Hereford Football Club, We usually have between 250 - 300 motorcycles turn up so make a note in your diary for 16th. Please check out our calendar on our website and try and pop along to an event or two... herefordmidwalesvmcc.org

We are riding again, well you should know that. The Good Friday run had a good attendance with a total of 24 bikes participating, we split onto two groups, both doing end over end/drop off, which fell apart, but we still had 18 turn up at the destination.

We have only had one Tuesday evening ride out as I write this slightly early this month due to being away, with 10 attending. And a breakfast meet again with 10 members coming for some food and a natter. June will have our usual Tuesday evening rides, a breakfast meet on the 9th and a meetup with other Anglian sections on the 28th. Early July (the 5th) is the start of our camping/touring week for which you can still book, or come along as a day visitor. As always see the website for details.

The first Ironmasters run of 2026 was blessed with May weather in March for the nine riders who took part. An invitation to join the Shropshire Section at a Craven Arms cafe was fitted into a 65-mile ride. It was a longer stop than usual, as some Worcester Section members were also present and it made for a great get together between local sections. The return leg took in some quiet West Shropshire lanes, then Wenlock Edge, finishing at the western edge of Telford.

Section Notes April 2026

The recent poorly attended AGM portends a change at the top! Rupert Murden has given 12 months notice of his intention to stand down as chairman ( but stay on the committee) and Gareth Davies was voted in as vice chairman with the aim of taking over from Rupert in March 2027. Much discussion ensued regarding falling club night attendances and the committee has resolved to tackle the issue. Conversely, our impromptu road runs continue to be very popular - long may it continue!

I write this the day after our Classic & Vintage Motorcycle Show, the weather was perfect and we had around 70 classic and vintage bikes on show and a good number of visitors. The atmosphere was great and we were suppored by 2 Island businesses BMS and the Bikery. Our charity this year is Mountbattern IoW and as usual our friends from the Prostate Cancer IoW were there too.

Here on the island runs mean beautiful views both coast and inland, we have three club runs in June, our usual lunch run on Tuesday 2 June, meeting 11.30 at the Hare & Hounds led by Iain Young; a breakfast run on Sunday 21st June Meeting 9.00 at Carisbrooke Nunnery car park, led by Chairman Geoff Dean and then a ride from the Old Smithy Godshill 6.30 to the 8 Bells for an evening club night.

If anyone is on the Island on holiday do join us on our runs, we love guests and can tell you the best places to go and roadworks to avoid!!

Enjoy the weather safely everyone.

Well I have to say our runs season got off to a cracking start with the Past Members event organised by Steve with over 40 participants, and the St Georges Day Run by Karl, lunching at his lovely place across the border in Suffolk. Even a couple of late lost boys, (OK-me and Pete) got great grub. Thank you so much Debbie. The weather, as usual here, was glorious, with the spring foliage spuffling beautifully. We love local sprouts.

At our April club night an interesting presentation was made about  products supplied by Fenland Spirit Services  (Woooo!!) reference the evils of alcohol. I used the AA and the Priory- but that is another story and even more expensive. We also agreed a significant donation for Blood Bikes and the Air Ambulance.

June runs coming up are Paul and Kevins' Summer Run from Watton on the 7th, and Dicks revamped Early Birds Run on the 21st. Also intersection meets  on the 3rd and 28th. As ever check Facebook, and maybe even the website, as we have thrown Ducati George at it and he has previous! But not helped by the fact that the login man had gone in to hiding due to me ignoring him for too long- compooters are funny things.

The AGM in April was attended by 26 members and the VMCC North West Area Rep – Andy Royle, who made a 5-hour round trip by motorcycle to attend.  All the points from the previous AGM were discussed and approved, including the continued funding of food at section social runs. The existing committee were re-elected. Importantly, a Lakeland Section volunteer came forward to take on the South Lakes Mountain Weekend! Thanks to Jonty Myers, the section will now begin planning for the 2026 SLMW. BUT we must not forget the much-needed assistance given by Bobby Robinson and the South Durham Section in keeping this premier event going over the last few years! Looking forward into June, we have a new event – a ride in to Tom Lewthwaite’s workshop in Whitehaven on Wednesday 17th. I am sure everybody who attended the visit to Mike Skyrme’s workshop at the end of May enjoyed it!

Encouragingly, the recent improvement in Club Night attendance is being maintained. If this continues it will give your committee the confidence to once again arrange guest speakers and other forms of entertainment. This is a ride in event for our section and any members wishing to attend are welcome. The second breakfast run, led by Jenny, started and finished in Meriden but took 21 miles to get there. Many of us also helped at the Henry Cole ride in event and the Try a Classic bike event both at the NMM. Club night was an excellent presentation by one of our members, Tony, about the history of kart racing, together with a small selection of his racing karts collection on display.

April saw Thursday Runs from Charlie and Brenda, a Pub Meet with Peter and Sunday Runs with Phil C and Me, a record number attended the Felix Burke Event, all did very well, including newcomers. Turnouts have been high and the bike mix fantastic, from John B’s V twin BSA to Jeremy’s Ducati Monster. The drop-off system operates without a hitch; we have brilliant, considerate and skilled sweepers, no one feels pressured to keep up and new riders feel relaxed and welcome. If you don’t use it, give it a try. This month we have The 80th Anniversary Baton Handover from Worcester Section, The Banbury Run, Club Night on 8th, my Thursday Run on 11th, Dave B’s Breakfast Run on14th, The Baton Handover Pub Meet to Warwickshire Section on 18th, Gary’s Tiddler’s Run on 21st, Peter’s Picnic Run on 25th and Rusty’s Shadders Memorial Run on 28th. This years events have started and its looks like another busy season. The seasons first section event is the GIrder Fork Run on 20th June starting from Clatt. Before that we have our monthly ride outs on the second Tuesday on the month starting from the Ashdale Hall Westhill. 7 for 7:30 departure with around 40 miles on the night. This is an ideal forum to bring along a bike and a have a  short ride and chat about any issues you may have or have had with it. Their's always someone on hand to assist. It could be a restoration, a bike that you've just acquired but isn't running right or what have you! Its about the ride and the journey that's shared on the way. The first ride on the new season is always nice as you get to see what's newly acquired on its first outting.

Our annual auction of parts at the end of March had a good attendance and a good selection of items for sale. A note for next year to you all to look out those forgotten items at the back of the garage - you will be surprised at what they can make. Club funds benefited by £77.00 from this event so thank you to both Seller and Buyers.

Our new riding season is well underway with two long standing events the Wetherby Run and the Coronation Run coming up this month. We look forward to seeing a good entry

We are still looking for entries for the Golden Era Run coming up in July from the Elvington Air Museum. Pre 31 bikes only but always a good event in some beautiful countryside and an excellent meal in the NAFFI afterwards.

Our Nostalgic evening was very entertaining. Members brought any item in that meant something to them. Some even went back to their very younger years, before marriage and kids. Thanks to those who took part.

We had Geoff Smale doing a talk on the C100 super club, it was to be the most successful motor vehicle ever created, it sported numerous derivatives and 100s of millions of sales.  Once again, another fantastic and eye opener talk by Geoff.  Big thank you goes to all who brought along their motorbikes. Even I remember how popular they were, cheap transport for all.

14 June sees our Honorary President Alex Graham’s Run, a short run of about 40 miles. 24 June The section riders will be heading out for our Chippy Run, turning out one of the popular ones.

28 June Dave & Ann will be organising a ride, details yet to be confirmed.

Apologies for the lack of section notes for May – family emergency. April saw the section attending the Rotary Classic Car Rally & Run at Chapel Brampton to seek out new members. The section's AJS won the “The Bike I Would Like To Take Home” certificate at the event which Trevor received from the local mayor. June club night will see Barry Fairfield giving a talk about his unique Shaw Special – one not to miss. The run on the 21st will be the Baton Run where the section will accept handover of the 80th Anniversary Baton from members from Bedford. Then on June 28th we will have the Chairman’s Run organised by none other than our chairman, Trevor. The year is almost half over so let’s make the best of it.

My Favourite or Least Favourite Mototcycle Part -  And Why!

That was the theme for our November meeting and it all came from an idea from Joel Larkham, our youngest member. Anyone who wanted to take part had ten minutes or so to step up and show us what they had brought, tell us what it is, how it works or not and why it is excellent at what it does or a total pain. We had eight participants, including young Joel and a few more mature gents.  The subjects chosen all had their merits. Joel with his first engine restoration and re-build, Graham's Velo cylinder head, Ian and his ongoing efforts to fettle his early Triumph clutch, George and the disintegrating beaded edge tyre to name a few. Some great yarns and great entertainment. Well done Joel and good luck with the carb and electrics!

Also, Well done David and Joan Crawford. £3,000 and counting raised for the Hospice from sales of David's book.

We had five runs in April including the first evening run of the season.  It’s encouraging to see such good attendance.

Pete’s evening run, however, was a case of lost and found.  One rider misidentified the last man and left his post, leaving the rest in three different groups.  Miraculously, at the end of the run, we all reached the finish at the same time, all having had a lovely ride, if in different areas!

By now you should have received an updated calendar with a number of location changes.  If you haven’t, please get in touch.  The section website has been updated.

March 22nd - Spring Time Coffee, Cake & Chatter.

Hi All,

Thank you to all the large number of people that attended the Sunday March 22nd VMCC Shropshire Section's "Meet and Greet" at the Craven Arms Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre.

It was a brilliant turn out, with people arriving on all sorts of bikes. A large contingency arrived with Richard Caddick's group from the Worcester Section with their Friends. Also some from the Iron Masters Section, Hereford and Richard Favier from the VJMC (Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club).

The atmosphere seemed very good, friendly and  Convivial. I met some unknown, to me, members living in Shropshire and I have added them to the Shropshire Section mailing list. Thanks for being there.

However due to ill health I was unable to arrive on my bike but in order to best fit in I came in my 92 year old Austin car. Not quite a bike but it does have 18 inch spoke wheels with bike size tyres. One bike stood out for me. It looked great. It was a 1928 Norton. It's one I wish I had in my garage. But I'm not sure how comfortable, easy or safe the Norton would be in modern traffic. So hats off to the owner for riding it there. He has more courage than me. I did talk to him and he seemed like a very nice chap but I'm very sorry I can't remember his name, I really do struggle to remember people's names. I can remember dimensions of bores and strokes of engines I worked on decades ago but not names.

There were also some very smart looking 1960's Triumphs present. I'm not looking for a triumph but they did look smart. I really do need to keep up and polish up my Ajay.

Hopefully there will be more successful Shropshire Section Meetings in the near future.

If you live in Shropshire and want to be on our email list please contact me.

Regards,

David DEW.

An unusual treat on Wednesday 3rd of June will be a mid-week run, led by Dan Alsop, to his home in Lyme Regis, where you can partake of Fish (locally caught?) and Chips.  This event will start from our regular weekday coffee meet at Dewflock Farm DT2 8NP, departing about 11.00.  Join us as usual for Breakfast on Saturday 13th June at the Three Compasses.  A Club Run on 14th will be led by Kevin, leaving the Three Compasses at 10.30, stopping for tea/coffee & cake at the Helyar Arms, East Coker and lunch at The Eggcup, Vurlands Farm on the B 3157.  Club Night on 25th June will be another evening Run, departing from the Three Compasses at 7.00 pm

April runs were highly entertaining with stuck brakes (Roly), no fuel (Paul) and bonus miles (Barry) all adding to the fun. Good weather helped with bumper turnouts for every ride and some great lunch venues too. June starts with a breakfast meeting on Wed 3rd, the ever popular Fish and Chips Run on 10th and Longest Day Run on 28th. June's Club Night on 17th is also our Bike Show so do ride in. Sunshine guaranteed! Probably.

At the Sprint Section AGM this year after 40 enjoyable years the decision was made to close the section.

There were many reasons why for this decision, primarily it came down to the lack of suitable and affordable venues, the closure of the Brighton Speed Trials (the UK’s longest running motor racing event), the fact that a new committee, which had been sought since 2015, was not forthcoming.

The remaining funds in the sections account were dispersed equally between The VMCC, Cancer Research and the British Heart Foundation, unanimously voted for at the AGM.

The committee, as was, would like to thank the VMCC and its membership for all the help and support given to the Sprint Section over the last 40 years to run many memorable days sprinting at varied venues across the UK, most notably the 1000 Bikes at Brands Hatch and not forgetting the Brighton Speed Trials.

Thanks to Paul for arranging the "Coffee Meet" at Sammy Millers "Ride-in" back in April. It was an enjoyable morning with a reasonable turnout.

We have the Landford Run on the 14th of the month for girder and/or rigid bikes only.

At the time of compiling these notes in April, no decision had been made regarding the Club Night Picnic.

If it is going ahead I will email details accordingly.

This month's coffee meet takes place on the 30th at Hockeys Farm Shop, Ibsley from 10am-12.

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Section to thank Clive Bassett, our former Chair for his hard work over the years – thanks Clive.

Our section meets up on the first Tuesday of each month at the Southbrook Inn, Southbrook St, Swindon SN2 1HF, from 7:00pm. Parking is plentiful, though Members are reminded that vehicle access to the pub is via Ferndale Road only.  During the late spring and summer months you often find us gathered in the car park looking at the fantastic machines that we have arrived on.  We always aim to have a run on the Sunday after “Club Night”.  This typically involves breakfast and cake! During the warmer months, we try to visit places of interest to the Members.  Please visit our Facebook page “Swindon Moonrakers VMCC” to see what we have been up to.  You are very welcome to come and join us – we are a sociable group.

Next Section meeting: 5th May 2026. Next proposed run: 10th May 2026

June already, surely not! It feels like we`ve only just gotten winter out of the way. Mind you, when one can`t remember what you had for dinner the previous day it`s hardly surprising. Pete Hall`s Tulip run was blessed with perfect weather and a great turn out. We all arrived safely, although Bernie`s Suzuki did shed a few parts on the way. Apart from the calendar runs we are doing a few impromptu quicker runs on Wednesdays; these will be announced on the Taverners Whatsapp group page as and when. Congratulations to all the Trials Class winners, a big thank you to the people for all the time and effort put in setting out the courses for each event. But we still have the Trials BBQ on the20th , all Taverners are welcome to come along and have a go or just enjoy the afternoon and have a burger.

Since writing my last notes for you there is still nothing touring wise to report for this month. Pauline and I had a long weekend in Norfolk in April and checked out a new route for the forthcoming Breckland Week in July. We also enjoyed Kings Lynn Section`s Past Members Run which had plenty of single track roads to contend with and lunch at a new to us venue that we could use on a new route but without the single track lanes. Pauline has received a few more entries since last month but there are still a few pitches available at Fendicks with electric hook up. The menu in the cafeteria has been extended and with Rondo`s Bar you can enjoy an evening meal and a drink on site. Hope you all had a good Sittingbourne Weekend and look forward to seeing many of you again soon.

I had the honour of devising our new “Portscatho Dash” on Sunday 8th of March. The previous day boasted bright sunshine, blue skies and superb sea views. Of course the actual day of the run featured dense fog, zero visibility and no sea views! Finding landmarks for navigating was challenging, the lanes ahead disappeared into the murk entirely, we were effectively riding on instruments!

However all 16 intrepid riders enjoyed themselves and were warmly welcomed at the Plume of Feathers pub, Portscatho with a restorative log fire & Sunday lunches!

On 3rd April club night, we enjoyed an exciting evening chat with Rodney Hann, on the craft of motorcycle wheel building, thanks Rodney!

Hopefully you all enjoyed our rescheduled Hand Change experience organised by Peter Old on April 12th.

May Club night Friday 1st, 8pm, Holiday Inn Express, Roche,

King Arthur Run, Sunday May 10th, 10am – Roche Services.

Richard Hutson of the Bournemouth and New Forest Section entertained us at our April meeting with an excellent  presentation featuring men, machines, places and events  photographed over many years. The cake offered as a prize for identifying the Hildebrand & Wolfmueller won by three people ended up in the raffle! At the end of the meeting our Section President, Bette Barber, handed the 80th anniversary baton on behalf of the Wessex Section to Richard and the Bournemouth and New Forest Section complete with the wooden plinth made by Frank Cropp. On the 8th June we have 'Bring an Item of Interest, this doesn't have to be motorcycling related as long as there's an interesting story behind the item. Our first run of the year, the ever popular 'On the Beaded Edge Run' open to pre 1940 machines only from the Virginia Ash at Henstridge, takes place on the 14th June.

The Westies held our final summer venue club night at the scenic Creagan Inn at Appin, beside Loch Creran. Seven riders came, from Spean Bridge in the north, to Ardrishaig in the south, just on 90 miles between. We’re a widespread lot, but I’d wager we have the best ride in the country to see our pals. From October we decamp to our winter habitat of the Lorn Bar in Oban on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. All welcome.

On another matter, we’re going to pick up a bit on our one-and-only road run next May 23rd, gloriously entitled ‘The Peep At The Paps’, a run from Lochgilphead to Tarbert via the Kilberry road, where views of the Isle of Jura give us our title. We’ve kept the past couple of years fairly quiet as we’ve built a small team or organisers, but now we feel we can push the boat out a bit. More to follow as plans come together

We will be holding the Oast House Run, one of our major section runs, on Sunday 3rd May. It’s one of the few all day runs on a Sunday that we organise and will start and finish at the Swan on The Green, West Peckham ME18 5JW where tea, coffee and bacon or sausage rolls will be available prior to the start. Both morning and afternoon routes will be navigated by route sheet and there’ll be a lunch stop for refreshments somewhere on route. Three class awards will be presented at the finish. If you wish to fill out an entry form beforehand just contact myself and I’ll send one via email. At the time of compiling these notes there are still vacancies for run leaders on the 5th & 19th July and the 13th & 30th August. It would be good for some new people to have a go. Please help.
